SCREENING SCHEDULE 2020
The 22nd competition of the Thessaloniki International G.L.A.D. Film Festival (gay - lesbian - asymmetric - diverse) is feverishly been prepared and will be on view from 08/01/2021 to 14/01/2021 online; http://gladfest.eu/
Our collaborations are planned to be the Ministry of Culture and Sports with the auspices and sponsorship, the Thessaloniki Film Festival with its support as continuously from 1999 until today, but also other expected ones, such as that of the Consulate General of France in Thessaloniki and the French Institute Thessaloniki, and of course, collectives, social media and mass media.
The audience will see, discuss and vote for the movies:
A brief tribute to South America:
a) Margin of Error – by Liliana Paolinelli, director from Argentina, 2019, 70min, fiction, where she presents the first steps of a young lesbian, in an environment of older activists of the L.G.B.T.Q.+ movement. Participations in festivals: 42.
b) The Adopters – by Daniel Gimelberg, director from Argentina, 2019, 1h 45min, fiction, which presents the different desires of a mature gay couple to adopt, and finally the adoption of two boys. A film where the heroes have the courage to raise children from unknown parents and not from their own sperm. Participations in festivals: 3.
c) Shining Moon Director’s Cut -by Gustavo Letelier, director - philosopher and engineer from Chile, 2020, 1h 45min, fiction. He talks about a couple of mature gay actors and theater directors, who do not reconcile with commercial profit, and finally achieve a psychograph of transgender people, but also of themselves. He has already achieved 4 participations in festivals and 1 award.
d) Emilia – by César Sodero, director from Argentina, 2020, 1h 37min, fiction. The heroine is a lesbian, she leaves the village and her partner, she goes to the "static" and planned city, she thinks about the immigration she decided, but now she wants to find the meaning of life. Participations in festivals: 7.
Documentary about lives within the gender diversity of identities and attractions:
e) Game on, Queer disruption in Sport – by Mária Takács, director from Hungary, 2020, 1h 7min, documentary. Athletes themselves talk about their transgender and homosexuality, their parents and their environment, and describe the often phobic and hostile atmosphere in sports. The film already has many distributions in European countries.
f) The right girls – by Timothy Wolfer, USA, 2019, 1h 25min, documentary. She describes a group of transgender women hiking thousands of miles from Central and South America to the United States to seek political asylum. Participation in festivals: 4.
g) Me Liamo Violeta – by David Fernández de Castro & Marc Parramon, directors from Spain, 2019, 1h 16min, documentary. It refers to two families with transgender children, Violeta and Alan, analyzing the delicate balance between acceptance and rejection experienced by their children. Participations in festivals: 7, prizes: 2.
